Foreign businesses in Japan
The biggest ethnic minority population in Japan until 2007 was Korean, with many of them being naturalised Japanese citizens. The most famous companies owned by Korean/Korean Japanese are: Lotte (Food manufacturing) and MK Taxi (Transportation).
Currently, the biggest ethnic minority population in Japan is Chinese. Yokohama’s China Town is apparently the biggest in Asia (620 shops/restaurants in 2018) and it was first established in 1868. Kobe and Nagasaki have China Towns also.

Japan comes in at number 34 in the ease of doing business ranking published by the World Bank. However because of the sheer size of the country’s economy, most multi-national companies have subsidiary companies or branches in Japan.
